Overview

This tour will take you to Cape Town, the fairest Cape in the world. The ascent and view of sea, city and mountains from the top of iconic Table Mountain, is an absolute “must see” for the visitor to Cape Town. On top of Table Mountain, you will experience the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of the world’s five plant kingdoms, and the most concentrated, beautiful and diverse. From the top of the mountain, you will see and later sail to Robben Island, the famous “prison” island where Nelson Mandela spent most of his 27 years of incarceration. The refreshing sea air, the views from different perspectives of Table Mountain, Table Bay and Cape Town Harbour, the enthralling history of one of the world’s greatest statesmen and freedom fighters, as related by the island’s guides, make this an experience of a lifetime.

Travel around the south eastern tip of Africa, one of the world’s most scenic stretches of road on earth. From Chapmans Peak to the “meeting of the oceans” at Cape Point, the exquisite views of sea and mountains are ever changing. Catch a funicular rail carriage to the lighthouse, in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, at the summit of the last finger of land reaching southwards, to where the warm Indian Ocean and the cold, mighty Atlantic meet. Strut around the Boulders Beach in Simonstown, with amiable African Penguins, or perhaps have a swim with them.

Journey further north into Africa, and visit the Manyara National Park on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, where a rare breed of tree climbing lions make their home during the rainy season. The varied and spectacular landscape of forests, bushveld, baobabs, cliffs, hot springs, wildlife and flocks of Pink Flamingoes in the lake make this a uniquely beautiful destination. A fitting climax to this tour is a visit to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, the inactive, Ngorongoro volcanic crater, the largest of its kind in the world, is home to an astounding 20,000 animals, including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, lion, hyaena, cheetah, leopard and black rhino. It has, probably, the best game viewing concentrations on earth and, undoubtedly, the largest lion population.
