Overview

There could not be a better place to start your Tanzanian safari, than in Arusha, in the northern highlands, with Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro forming picture perfect backdrops. Passing through highland forests, you will be rewarded with the sighting of rare colubus monkeys, as well as the gathering of wild life around the Momela Lakes in the Arusha National Park. En route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Manyara National Park on the edge of the Great Rift Valley is a famed destination for the only lions in the world, known to climb trees. If you arrive in the right season, you will spot them in the acacia and mahogany trees. It is a varied and spectacular landscape of forests, bushveld, baobabs, cliffs, hot springs, wildlife and flocks of Pink Flamingoes in the lake.

Ngorongoro, the largest, unflooded, inactive caldera in the world, formed after an eruption of a volcano 2.5 million years ago, is a natural wonder in its own right. But, incredibly, this crater also teems with wildlife. Ngorongoro sustains more than 20,000 zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, lion, hyaena, cheetah, leopard and black rhino! Nowhere else in Africa will you find such a concentration and variety of game, making your Tanzanian safari a trip of a lifetime.

On arrival in South Africa, you will be transported to Sun City, which represents one man’s grand vision, masterfully executed. Situated in the crater of another extinct volcano, the ambience, walkways, bridges, sky train and other design aspects draw heavily on African myth and legend.

Guests are spoilt for choice in entertainment, shopping and other leisure activities. Options include cinemas, restaurants, the Extravaganza Theatre, rambles through the 25 hectare Lost City Garden, the world famous golf course, and a variety of water sports at the resort’s Waterworld, where waves up to 1.8metres are generated by a wave machine. You will be captivated by this fantasy African world of glitz and glamour, surrounded by rainforests and sub-tropical landscapes, with stairways guarded by life-size, sculptured bronze elephants and a rock garden with imposing life-size, sculptured giraffe.
