Overview

The annual, wildlife migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti has captured the whole world’s imagination, and made it a must for travelers in search of that dream safari. In a truly, magnificent response to the rhythm of nature, more than a million wildebeest set off for more succulent pastures in the adjacent Masai Mara National Park every year, between April and June, and back. Their awesome progress is announced by clouds of dust, the thundering of hooves and trembling of the plains. This is a perilous journey, which only the fittest survive through crocodile infested river crossings, and past predators that lay in wait. Besides the wildebeest, Serengeti serves also as a seasonal migration passage for other wildlife, in less dramatic fashion. It is the largest national park in Tanzania, at 14,763 sq kms and home to lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland, zebra and other fascinating creatures, in numbers that defy the imagination. This, together with the wildebeest migrations, makes the Serengeti one of its kind on earth.

The varied and spectacular landscape of forests, bushveld, baobabs, cliffs, hot springs, wildlife and flocks of Pink Flamingoes also make Lake Manyara a uniquely beautiful destination. To top it all, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with its great diversity and 20,000 plus concentration of wildlife, in the world’s largest, inactive, unbroken volcanic crater, is an African safari paradise.

On arrival in South Africa, you will be transported to the magnificent Sun City, also situated in the crater of an extinct, but more ancient, volcano. You will be enthralled by the African myth and legend ambience created in its walkways, bridges, sky train and other design aspects.

Guests are spoilt for choice in entertainment, shopping and other leisure activities. Options include cinemas, restaurants, the Extravaganza Theatre, rambles through the 25 hectare Lost City Garden, and a variety of water sports at the resort’s Waterworld. Surrounded by rainforests and sub-tropical landscapes, with stairways guarded by life-size, sculptured bronze elephants and a rock garden with imposing life-size, sculptured giraffe, who can resist the lure of this fantasy world of glitz and glamour?
